In March 2026, the Technical Assistance for the Digital Civil Registry System of El Salvador was launched — an initiative funded by the European Union to support institutional modernisation and improve citizens’ access to their fundamental rights. The project will run for a period of three years.
The objective of this project is to strengthen the National Registry of Natural Persons and to consolidate the Civil Status and Family Records System, a key platform for the centralised, digital, and secure management of identity data for the Salvadoran population. Among the beneficiary institutions is also the Secretariat of Innovation of the Presidency.
This project supports the transformation of the civil registration system towards a fully digital and interoperable model, in line with El Salvador’s Digital Agenda, which promotes the integration of public services, administrative efficiency, and transparency in information management.
