The global objective of the call for proposals was to support civil society in protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms worldwide. The specific objectives of the call for proposals were:

1) To support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Human Rights Defenders and their organisations working in areas where LGBTI persons are most at risk of discrimination.

2) To support civil society action towards universal abolition of the death penalty.

3) To support civic activism and participation by leveraging digital technologies.

The Global objective of this mission was to recruit a team of experts to assist the European Commission in the evaluation and selection of the best proposals received under the Call EUROPEAID/161054/DH/ACT/ in line with the quality criteria set in the respective Guidelines for grant applicants.
